304-TH - Workin' it

« on: June 27, 2006, 01:52:34 PM »

I am installing a large TV antenna at the top of my Rohn 45-G tower and I was looking for a short
mast to install at the top to support it. I found everything I needed at my local Home Depot.

They carry 10' long sections of 1-3/8" galvanized pipe for supporting cyclone fence, and
heavy galvanized clamps to bolt parallel sections of this pipe together. The clamps fit perfectly
on Rohn 25-G and 45-G tower legs and seem super strong. I used four of them to bolt the
vertical mast to the top section of tower. It ain't going anywhere.

For light duty antenna supports, this fencing hardware can't be beat. The galvanized pipe
is also available in larger sizes and it's even swaged at one end so one section can telescope
into another. Way better material than the junk TeeVee antenna hardware that Radio Shack sells.
