Check out the video.  After the Hamsexy guy, notice the dude with the big gut.

A glimpse of what is typical with the amateur radio community?

The reporter should have  turned around and decked the hamsexy idiot with her microphone.  Beaten him like she had a truncheon.  Now that would be good live TV!  Wink

No, she and the camera operator did it the right way, and undoubtedly scored plenty of brownie points with their supervisor.  Notice how she maintained her cool throughout the incident, never deviated from a totally professional demeanour, continuing her narrative with only a barely detectable hesitation with maybe one word, as she shifted position and the camera immediately followed her, moving the guy out of view with no further incident.

I thought it was hilarious, but unfortunately, this incident combined with the lardgut wearing the sloppy clothes in the background, take a total of about 10 seconds to make radioamateurs look to the general public like a bunch of buffoons.

I can't help thinking your oevr analysing this.  The main message that I got from the report was that the hamvention was a great source of income for the local community, and there was some concern about the venue for next year...

Attention seekers and obese guys are every where, wether it be a swap meet for hams, record collectors, gun enthusiasts, rev heads, motorcyclists, model train enthusiasts, tractor  collectors, book collectors, dog shows etc

A TV news story about hams is at least a sign that we still exist in large numbers.
