I was reading an article in RFdesigns "Defense Electronics" magazine about fractal antennas. From what they said they are an efficient design based on repeating geometric patterns that is physical short. A small efficient antenna, what a treat!
Does anybody know where I can get design info on this subject and has anyone tried these for HF work?

ARRL web site search pulled up 6 hits on "fractal".
Google pulled up 94.8K worth of hits on "fractal antennas". First page listing of sites is good for several hours of reading.
Here's one:

Here's another one:

One leg of my 160 M dipole dog legs all over the back yard. Maybe I have a fractal antenna and didn't know it

Beware ...

A discussion of fractal antenna geometry is going to bring Nate Cohen (N1IR) out of the woodwork and maybe onto this board (although he takes a very dim view of AM and AMers, if one believes most of what he has had to say on the subject).

That's an over-the-top ego you may be sorry you unearth   Roll Eyes

He has spewed out his diarrhea of the mouth (or keyboard) numerous times on QRZ.com.  A strong ally of the BPL industry and quick to rebut anything anyone has ever said that is critical of BPL.

Snake oil from a junk science snake oil salesman. Keep looking at the links for the one that disproves this junk.

Yeah I read some of his post on QRZ.com. Although I never met him, he strikes me as the type of person that likes to go in, start trouble, then walk out and watch the fire works. If it isn't progressing like he feels it should, he'll throw a little fuel on the fire. What a JA
