According to whom?

What about Citizen Kane; Philadelphia Story; From Here to Eternity; The Searchers (or anything directed by John Ford);  to name just a few?

4) Winnie the Pooh goes to Harlem
5) The Best of Barney and his gay friends, IV
6) Gozilla Ass Kicking by Motha, Part I
7) Masters and Johnson Live
8.) Hulk Hogan's Greatest Hits in Concert - LIVE
9) The Three Stooges Go To Provincetown, II
10) Lee DeForest - the  Swinging Years, Part I

Wait a minute; Where is Attack of the Killer Tomatoes??
Quote: It was made for less than $100,000 and has been recognized as ahead of its time, predating Airplane! and other films with the same concepts but with less money. USAToday named it one of the ten best titles of all time.

And the last one in the series: Killer Tomatoes Eat France:

And the Special Colllectors Edition:

Anybody remember "Spinal Tap"?

A Rob Reiner low budget film that turned out to be a huge cult sucess!

You have to add "Plan Nine from Outer Space" to the list. - Just Kidding...

I would honestly add:

Kelly's Heros
Independence Day

That is all I can think of at the moment.

Boy is THIS subject gonna start a flame fest.

My list:

1)  The Blues Brothers
2)  North by Northwest
3)  The Best Years of Our Lives
4)  Airplane!
5)  Animal House
6)  Fargo
7)  Citizen Kane
Cool  Goldfinger
9)  Schindler's List
10) Duck Soup

Each one of these is a groundbreaking artistic masterpiece in one form or another (writing, cinematography, directing, etc).

Or so *I* think.

I must have missed those! But I read the books.

Now, a movie that was ahead of it's time and continues to
mesmorize people young and old - and we all watch over
and over.  [And everyone knows the lines by heart] .... Guess ?

Up In Smoke doesn't fall in there somewhere? Look at all the actors that starred in that movie.

Ahh, Vanishing Point... what a great movie.  Nothing but Barry Newman blasting a Hemi Challenger thru the desert with a drug-hazed soundtrack!

Ohhh Man..... mention cars and ya gotta say:

Steve McQueen !!!

Bullitt

Trivia: The director called for speeds of about 75-80 mph, but the cars (including the ones containing the cameras) reached speeds of over 110 mph. Filming of the chase scene took three weeks, resulting in 9 minutes and 42 seconds of footage. They were denied permission to film on the Golden Gate Bridge.

Anybody remember "Wild Women of Wongo", a teenage cult film released in 1959? It's campy and hysterical, and has a (then) 16 YO Adrienne Barbeau in it. I think it was her first film.

It was rated the WORST film ever made.

The 1950s had a lot of bad sci fi and
monster movies. Today when they talk
about a bad movie they say it went
straight  to video.  Back then the
schlock went to the drive-in
or the double feature matinee down at
the local theater.   I miss drive ins
and independently owned,
single screen theaters.  Each place
had its own character and that added
to the fun of going the movies.
Such places are getting rare.  We have
two left in this area.  One shows first
run movies in an old vaudeville theater.
The other one shows second run movies
in an old movie theater and tickets
are under $3.  I'd rather go to them
than the cookie cutter multiplexes.
