Around the world, ham radio operators are experimenting with a new way to detect solar flares--the Doppler Shift method. Brian Curtis of Sault Ste Marie, Michigan, demonstrated the technique on June 20th when the sun produced a powerful X1.1-class solar flare...SEE THIS ON SPACE WEATHER .COM

In reading through some of this stuff, if sounds like the scientific diddlers of the past who spend their entire careers in a lab trying to find something meaningful to present to the world.

And, we already have ways to detect solar flares. Why would someone monitor WWV, CHU, Radio Bear, etc. 24 /7 to detect a possible Doppler shift and then try to determine if a solar flare causing it or some other ionospheric anomaly or disturbance.

Give those kids something scientific to do.

Can we turn a profit if we can find some monetary value to this "scientific investigation" of radio wave Doppler shift?

How will any of this increase my 6 meter DX count  Huh

Sure you can! You just do a 'dog and pony show' to some government representative and they will as my mother would say, "fall ass over tin-cups" to give you millions of dollars. Just like a shrimp on a treadmill!
