I was on 75m this morning and Cal W1HHO broke in to tell me that Norm W1GYY passed away about two weeks ago from a heart attack.
Norm lived in Lexington Mass and was originally from Freeport Maine where he still had a house. He studied at U Maine and later endowed a scholarship for engineering students there.

He founded an infrared imaging company Inframetrics which he eventually sold to FLIR.
Norm was a big fan and collector of National Radio Company equipment. Norm didn't transmit much but was always listening, he'd come up to me at a hamfest and summarize what I had said in recent QSOs!  He did like to get on 10m AM when the band was open. About 10 years ago he showed me his homebrew 10 meter AM mobile rig which he built into the center console of his SUV, a very neat job and cool looking radio!

Norm will be greatly missed.
R.I.P.
