Having moved to northern TN in the last year, I have made acquaintance with a ham who is a Green Beret on active duty at nearby Fort Campbell. Mike is a gifted radio tech. He would really like to get into AM and boat anchors. I want to find a Ranger or Valiant to get him started. Cost is an issue, but the radio can be in need of restoration. In fact, that would be preferred, but a decent front panel would be nice. I would like it to be within a 5 or 6 hour drive of Clarksville, TN.
This will be a gift to thank him for his service and to get him started in AM. Can anyone help?

Thanks to all who responded. Yesterday I drove up to Highland Heights, KY (suburb of Cincinnati) and picked up not only a Valiant but also a SP-600 from the estate of Rob N8JMV's father. BTW, he has a LOT more stuff to sell. A really nice HQ 129 (it was his mother's rig!), a very nice NC 183D, many Clegg 6 meter sets, rolls of magnet wire, test equipment, tubes (one box had 5 NOS 807s), etc. His dad owned a Motorola installation and repair business.
