I just got my Grizzly Tool catalog today.  I have bought shop tools and things from them for ages.  They sell good solid stuff.  While drooling my way through the pages I came across their single phase to 3-phase converters, both rotary converters and electronic converters.  It occurred to me that these may be of interest to radio amateurs to power some of the ex-commercial rigs that occasionally follow us home.

You can also use a VFD. Many of them run on 120VAC. However, you need one for twice the HP rating or equivalent of what you are converting.

Only the rotary converters will work on power supply transformers.
