Lawrenceville GA hamfest photos
Chilly at zero-dark-thirty, but a good turnout - this is always a fun hamfest.

Lot of vintage ham gear and parts, not very much military.
Cheers,

Nick, thanks for taking all the excellent photos of the fest.  I was there, but did not see you taking the photos.

I could not believe the condition of the Globe King in the back of the pickup truck.  Clean, looked almost new, only $300!  Where are all the AMers?  Flashboxes for less than $100, KW flashboxes under $200, and lots of Viking I and II, as well as Dixie 100s in the $100 range as well.

Although the forecast indicated mid-30s for the morning, it was above 40 when we arrived.  Slight breeze, no rain, then the sun came out.  Great to have the Stone Mountain fest in Lawrenceville back in full swing!

Many of the things I brought home are in your images, a pair of HP AC meters, the HP-400E and HP-3400A, a Measurements 59 vintage GDO with the classic acorn tube, and a Tek 2235 dual-trace 100 MHz scope, very clean and working perfectly for only $50.  This renews my belief that a scope to fine-tune and monitor the modulation of an AM transmitter is within the affordable budget of any serious AMer.

Just for grins, on the way out I also picked up a Heath 75 meter single-bander (HW-12A) for $20, complete and clean, which I may use as an exciter for a larger rig, or possibly screen modulate it for some easy cheap fun.

My smart?phone voicetext screws up homophones, but they are crystal clear from my 75 meter plate-modulated AM transmitter

Yes, thanks for the great pictures, Nick.

These days it’s fun to browse all the stuff from the comfort of my easy chair and at the same time avoid the temptation to acquire another “bargain” or “beauty” I surely don’t need. I’m always amazed at what I can talk myself into if there in person.

So, thanks again for saving me from my bad self!
