https://bollmanfuneral.frontrunnerpro.com/book-of-memories/4729280/Garrett-Leonard/index.php

A genius at so many things!  I remember riding my bicycle past his house in the 1950's and wondering what the tower attached his garage was all about?

One day I noticed the garage door up and what looked like a television screen.... had to look and found Mr. Garrett willing to explain he was sending an image of his wife by amateur radio to a friend in Anchorage Alaska.

That sparked an interest in radio and electronics that persists to this day.

Soon he had me taking my novice code test in his dining room with a friend of mine ....  we passed and got our calls mine Kn7MDO and my friends Kn7MTT.

We all became fast friends until Len's passing in September.

If you search a little you will find his image on a 1950's QST cover when he set the record 10 gig communication.  That record stood for 10 years or so if I remember correctly.

I wish each of you could have known him.

73's Len, Tom

I attached the only photo I have retained of Len's cover shot in 1954's QST...  I believe at the time it was a 10 gig world record transmission distance that held for a long time.

Tom,
Len sound like he was quite a guy and very smart as well.  Reading his obit, he had a stellar career.

You and others will treasure the memories base on the time you spent with him.  At the end of the runway, that is the gift to hold onto.
