I have a question that I can’t seem to find an easy answer for. When you wind a ferrite core each time the wire passes through the center counts as one turn. Instructions for this coil calls for a primary of 3 turns and the secondary at 12 turns. These binocular ferrite cores actually have two holes and I’m thinking they are actually two cores in one. Yes the picture suggests three physical loops through both holes. Does anyone know how you calculate the proper number of turns?

one turn is a pass thru both holes on a bino.

While the ratio is maintained, it is key to have the proper inductance compared to the source and load Z. The convention is a pass thru both holes is one turn. A single pass is 1/2 turn and the inductance you obtain could be insufficient to provide the desired performance.
