Sadly I just learned through the AWA that Ray - W2XC has become a silent key.

In years past, I had many enjoyable QSO's with Ray on 40 meters.  He was an expert on the Harvey Wells TBS-50 transmitters.

From AWA President Bob Hobday: I am sorry to report that long time AWA member Raymond Shatzel W2XC of Lancaster, NY passed away on June 24, 2021. He was the loving brother of Charlene A. (Paul) Blakita; dear father of Royce, Navarre and Marina Shatzel.
Ray was an avid amateur radio operator (W2XC) and was Vice President of Electronic Sales at Hammond Manufacturing. He was a member of the Board of Directors for Hammond Manufacturing, HEL Hammond Electronics Limited (UK) and the Hammond Museum of Radio in Guelf Ontario Canada.
Ray will be missed by all who knew him.

Very sorry to hear this Joe.

Ray was the quintessential gentleman; was kind enough to send me a 4D32 for my 32V some years ago when they were getting scarce before the big surplus dump to the market later.
Ray, Bob ZM, and of course Bruce Kelly were stalwarts of AWA for many years….

Another fine ham now gone.
RIP Ray.

Never met Ray in person or even worked him on the air, but when I had some technical questions about a Dahl transformer I picked up at a hamfest, he was the Hammond rep who answered my emails. Very intelligent, friendly, and helpful. Seems we're losing more of our best every year.
RIP and 73, Ray.

Sorry to hear this. Had many of 40 meter QSOs with Ray in years past. Always interesting, informative and gentlemanly.
