maybe the FCC will regulate a phone network that only works in the morning hours? Maybe it's Frontier?

"new AM fone NET is in the process of being established and supported and approved by the FCC"
I think the OP was referring to the issuance of the "WE4AM" call sign, which has not happened yet. Bill, W4EWH

Why not ask the OP in his thread instead of making snide comments here? Seems like the polite thing to do.

What thread? "Announcements" are author-post only. One must admit that it seems a bit presumptuous to describe a net as having any special FCC "approval" and stating the same would seem to indicate either lack of understanding of how things work, or even a BS factor. I seem to recall that the infamous Marconi Net claimed a relationship with the Commission. That having been said, a friendly on-air collection of like minded folks isn't a bad thing.

He must be refering to the callsign approval. The FCC will not "assign" or "approve" an amateur frequency to anyone.

WOW! Another net. I guess today's generation of AM operators have no idea as to just call a "CQ" to make a contact. They would rather sit in a circle for "X" number of minutes before they get to make a transmission to the entire group and then wait many minutes more to make the next transmission. No real conversation and utterly boring! The SSB folks are not immune either. They have a potpourri of daily nets al over the bands. I guess SSB operators don't know how to call "CQ" either to make a contact. Here's the list of AM nets that's currently posted on AM Window. Some of these will definitely put you to sleep. Black coffee is necessary before listening. http://www.amwindow.org/nets/netfreq.htm

The inability to respond to an announcemet post notwithstanding, there are other ways to contact posters on this forum. If one genuinely wants something 'splained then it's easy enough to ask. If the motive behind this thread is otherwise, then carry on gentlemen.

No different than the 'new west coast ami' webpage in announcements.
I could have sworn we already had one. For over a decade. And it has a li k to the Arizona guys stuff.
But hey, let'sake another am page, with another am groups.io page to splinter the am crowd more.....

Just to clear up or head off any additional confusion going forward, the term 'fone' has been removed from the aforementioned announcement.
AMfone.net is in no way associated with this group or activity. Nor does AMfone.net sponsor, sanction, approve, disapprove, encourage, or discourage such activities.
We now return to our regular program, already in progress.....

Anyone else wondering what in the world this is about? I'm assuming it's this... http://amfone.net/Amforum/index.php?topic=46884.0It would be great if they were pioneering and settled somewhere other than the already crowded 3870-3890 part of the band. Generals and up can operate AM from 3800-4000. There's no more "AM Window". That concept became obsolete years ago. And, "approved by the FCC"? That would inspire a spirited conversation as a first topic.

WFDN still meets sporadically on 3733kHz. Mostly during the fall/winter season when propagation is better. Ya might catch a few of the guys on even now 'tween 5:00 PM and 6:30PM eastern.

Good to hear from you Greg. The WFDN was a good time (hopefully it still is, I haven't checked-in for a looooong time). It was a week day follow-on from DUQ's Sunday afternoon nets, first on 3875, the 3825 (when it was in the Extra/Advanced portion of the band) and the on to 3733, after the phone band expansion. Sadly, many of the stalwarts are gone: W3DUQ, K3ZRF, W3GL, KB3AHE. One of these days I hope to hear your on there!
