Making AM GREAT Again!

« Reply #1 on: April 18, 2021, 08:49:30 PM »

That's great.

I wish there was some TimTron involved.  Or at least an audio of his belch...   😂

Maybe Tim is involved in Alan's purchase of LeSea in S Carolina....?  There where grumbling of Alan buying that plant and they announced their intent to leave HF.

Glad to see Alan is getting what he always wanted, and to see at least someone is still involved with shortwave.

I wish they would have pointed out the truth:  WBCQ, at a half megawatt (and the picture showed more than that) is the biggest broadcaster in the western hemisphere.  I don't know of anyone bigger.  VOA may have the capabilities to match, but they are fixed screen arrays and typically operate at 250kw or below.

Alan should look at purchasing Delano.  He has the east coast paths covered.  The west coast has a beautiful site sitting in mothballs for a couple decades now. The only site still active here is religious and we only do 100 kw.

That was a fascinating expose of the system.

And Allen is correct, there still many people who don't have the option of communicating via the internet (and it is more fragile than many realize) due to their governments blocking any communications to the outside world, and the only penetration is with SW.

I wish WBCQ much success in the future.
