Hello all,

I'm working on a Valiant and discovered a crack on the side of L12, the 4.7uH RF choke that mounts under the large plate choke, L11. It tests fine, but I don't like leaving it that way. I was thinking of sealing it with shellac or nail polish, but I'm guessing replacement is the best course of action. What choke should I buy to replace it with? I want to make sure the new one will handle the current involved.

Thanks and 73,

I was toying with the idea of replacing it with a ferrite-core choke. I have a bunch of 100uH chokes from Radio Shack and I unwound one until I got to 4.7uH. Would that work?

These chokes were primarily used for two purposes. 1) to keep VHF trash inside the cabinet, 2) as a fuse for L11.

Newark  and Jameco may have one

Thanks for the info, Phil.  I actually found one in my junkbox!  (I didn't know I had ANY chokes in there - lol.)
