Somewhere, and I think it was here, there was a posting some time ago about the use of a 6:1 balun (6:1-HB/U300) on the output of a Globe King.  The idea was to connect the 300 ohm side to the existing antenna output to provide a "friendlier" match for 50 ohm antennas to the the King's output tank.

Can't find it with a search, and perhaps may be mistaken where I saw it.  I have a question about it.  Anyone recall or know anything about this?

Thanks ... Grant/NQ5T

The way I understand it is that you only need the 6:1 balun when using the Chump on 160M. All other frequencies, it will load 50Ω easily.

Using the balun makes the tuning on 75 much smoother and easier.  160 and 75 are the ones.  Rest is normal.

Yeah. Now all I have to do is get a LV transformer for mine and I'll be back in business. Unfortunatly, I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy one from Peter Dahl.

I'm told that the L/C ratio in the GK500 final tank is also better suited to a higher Z load on 75/80.  Have balun ... just want to try it out. :-)

I got the information I was looking for in the original post, by the way.

Thanks

Check Gary, WZ1M for a rewind.  He did the LHV transformer for mine and he was less expensive.

Email for a quote.  No contact excpet I used him because Dahl and Heyborer cost much more.
