Time to make a new antenna. Got a crazy idea.. I’m going to run a loop of wire around the perimeter of my garage roof, so part of the antenna will follow the pitch of the roof. Measured it out  at a total of 108 ft, a bit short for 40m. Thinking of feeding it with a 4:1 balun. What’s the chances this will function on several bands with an antenna tuner? Or, I was thinking I could break the loop at the center and feed it with open wire. Now it becomes an odd shaped dipole. Than, perhaps a balun on the end of the other end of the open wire. Ya, I’m bored, just wanna experiment.

You could drop a couple of stubs made of ladder line to make up for the lack of space. If you can try to use as much wire as possible and don't worry about the geometry of it, other than getting close for a 'folded dipole' look. I ran a 160M cloud burner for a long time. If I had the supports I would do it now. A couple of things: 1)It is in essence a DC short so you don't have static issues with it, 2)You shouldn't need anything more than a T-type of tuner. Like I said it was my favorite and it worked well for me. However YMMV!
