Here is a really FB Bird 43 wattmeter peak reading and range extension card modification.  (All prewired)     (adds X2, X5  ranges)    One 250 watt Bird slug will now cover 250W, 500W and 1,250W, etc.   Five calibration pots onboard.

There's something about the excitement of watching peak power  vs: boring average power.  It keeps me from trying to "talk" the power up -  by eating the mic and talking too loud on both ssb and AM.   Now any voice syllable swings the monkey up high.   In conjunction with Steve's REA mod monitor, it's quite the combo on AM.  Flip the switches and you're back to stock average power and X1 range.

The peak reading is also great for running a 10% width woodpecker pulse for tuning a linear amplifier with minimal stress.

This particular board  has gotten good reviews and is a nice addition for $55 considering the cost of $163 slugs and Bird meters in general.  (2,600 sold)  Mine worked right away.  Just have a lot of patience when fitting the switches into the spare slug hole.  It runs off an included 9V battery with an LED, but connecting it to a 12V supply works FB too.  All prewired.

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.
