Decided I had to build something else waiting to get back in the house.

I had a Hammond 274BX transformer and a 200 mA 10H choke. Also had a 2.5 amp Variac. Seemed like I could put together a fairly versatile bench supply .

I designed a PC Board with three 270uF 450 volt electrolytic caps, A 1600 volt 1 amp bridge rectifier and two 1600 volt  rectifier diodes and some balancing resistors and some bypass caps.

The items are semi hooked up and brought out to to banana jacks that can be configured with short banana jumpers to configure either a full wave bridge or center tapped bridge using a 10H choke if desired. I also will install several 100 watt bleeder resistors wired out to banana jacks.

The transformer has a 6.3 volt CT  filament winding that will be brought out to binding posts on the rear panel.  The HV DC output will be routed through a 0-500 mA meter with a small 0-15 voltmeter scaled to 0-1500 V with a resistor network. The output will be routed out to two binding posts also.

This is progress to date. I need to finish the PC Board, mount the jacks and binding posts, and wire it all together. The front panel has an on/off switch and a selector toggle switch for 0-115 or 1-125 volts to switch the transformer primary. I'll wire the Variac for 0-132 volts.

1600 amp on a 2.5 amp variac. I want to be there when you turn it on. Just kidding. I believe you mean 1600 volts?
