Anyone have any experience with the Russian Vac. Caps all over E-Bay? I was thinking of trying one in place of the bread slicer in the 833 rig.

I'd send him an email ahead of time asking how he plans to pack it.

Nice part.

A check of some of his past sales shows he deals a lot in vacuum caps, tubes, etc.  Good feedback lately, though some problems in the beginning.

He looks like a good source of Russian RF components.

I was thinking of building up a GSB-35B linear for 6m and he may be a good source of tubes.

Yep, as Dave says, axe him about packing and find out how much the actual shipping charge will be...  I saw some P&Ming about the costs in there.  Also axe him to pull that cap and check for vacuum.

And always axe the magic question: "Is there anything about this unit that does not make it PERFECT electrically, mechanically and cosmeticallly?"  They will then usually spill their guts thinking you are a perfectionist - they are hoping to avoid problems later by giving all the details.

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.

Thanks
I'mm getting tired of the zorching on the bread slicer so I put in a couple bids. I asked him all of those questions so we will have to watch for the answers. Looking at this guys stuff gets me thinking that it may be possible to build a High Level toob rig that is not 6 feet tall!. That would be cool. I can agree that those toobs make a nice replacement for the $800.00 US made Glas Fets. Hey, in the amp above, what did you use for material for the air chimney?

I got it at Dayton last year between the raindrops and visiting spot# 1961 where Pete has deserted his post.

I think it is PVC. It handles the tube's dissipation without any trouble.

Kieth:  I bought several caps from as many as 4 different guys from Russia, and only had one broken, and it was replaced.  They are nice caps.  They are a little larger than the typical Jennings. but of great quality.  They can however take about or up 2 month to get them.

There's a guy in Texas that stocks all the russian stuff. Tubes. etc... I'll try and locate his info if you're interested.

Where's Tolly when we need him?  I bet he knows all about the Russion vacuum variables not to mention the doorknobs, tubes and other Russian stuff that is tempting us.
