It's a long shot, but no harm in asking
Just discovered that my 160W VHF amp has a bad driver transistor. RF Parts no longer carries it and MFJ who purchased Mirage says its "too old". EBAY has a few listed, but all from China. and likely to be knock-offs. Anyone happen to have an MRF240A in their parts box, or know of any place that has one?

Mouser.com  66 bucks.

https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Advanced-Semiconductor-Inc/MRF240A?qs=%2Fha2pyFaduh5U9W4jr2%2FG4hfJbK2dyR3%252Bx95gqamUx4%3D

FYI, it's an ASI branded device.

I called Mouser before posting. They told me it’s a “240”, not the “A” version. Going to call them back and ask about what’s on your web page. Thanks

What does the A suffix designate? Looks like a typical flange mount transistor. I know some of the A suffix’s designated stud mount type. Are the data sheets incomplete that I found? I have a bunch of Motorola repeater amp transistors in the shop. I’ll see what I have tomorrow.

Thanks
I’m going to see if I can get both spec sheets to compare.
The 240s seem to be available but the A version isn’t.

The 240 is a stud mount, the A is not.

Odd, as that's backwards of most Motorola numbering.

Thanks.
Are these 240a or an equivalent device?

The parts I have are the m1132, m1133, m1134. From the micor series repeaters..
I think that the 1134 is the same as the mrf240. Maybe someone else can confirm that?

Let me see if I can find some info. I’m sure there are other devices that could be adapted, but I do t have the expertise to start modifying the design to use another device.

See initial post. Thinks it might be a Chinese knockoff. I'd pick one of these vendors that offers free shipping, returns,  good feedback rating, and is a long time ebay member. If doesn't work or makes the smoke rise, you always have the option to take your frustration to ebay and/or paypal.

Not going to even consider EBAY. Too many counterfeit devices, and the time required to change the part is not worth the frustration. Tried to research the Motorola devices mentioned earlier but found several mentions that spec sheets area seldom available. I have one other idea that I’ll be following up on today. If it pans out I’ll share the plan.

Not sure where you're looking for spec sheets, but a quick Google found the Motorola stuff:

Not sure why they would. House numbered devices can generally be procured only from the house that labeled them.
