This sad news was posted by Chuck Kembring WB3LGG on the AM reflector.

Brian Carling (AF4K Crystals) Situation.

On April 4, Brian was taken to the emergency room thinking he may have had a
minor stroke, since he was encountering some difficulties. By 7am the next
morning, he had undergone brain surgery with a very grim prognosis of a non
operative stage 4 GBA tumor. Due to complications, we will not be able to
operate business as usual with AF4K CRYSTALS. We will not be taking any more
orders personally, but  the family would like to assist in helping those who
have outstanding orders who have had difficulties contacting us or have not
had orders fulfilled. We apologize for any inconvenience. If there is anyone
who have not received their merchandise, please contact Brian's XYL. The
best effort will be made to remedy the situation as soon as possible.
The information is:
Marie Carling
WB4QBL
321-262-7151
marie.carling@af4k.com
There are others interested in the purchase of the business including AF4K
Crystals domain and inventory. For many years Brian and Marie have enjoyed
running the business and it would be a gift to both to know it would
continue to provide for others.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Marie Carling

When Brian came home from the hospital, he tried to work his business but
all his access and passwords were lost and Marie is doing the very best she
can to help people fill their requests / refund money sent as well as take
care of Bry.  PayPal has not been helpful with this process.  I am posting
this news in various places to alert customers / friends of the dilemma and
provide a path for resolution. Please keep them in your thoughts and
prayers.

Making AM GREAT Again!

I wondered what happened to him.  He was fairly active on Eham and the 'zed.

Godspeed for a recovery Bry....  Even if just in limited form so you can enjoy your time here.

And hope someone can pick the business up.  Would be a bummer to lose another xtal mfg.

About two months ago I ordered a crystal from Brian. About 3 weeks afterward I wondered where it was. I've ordered from him many times over the years with great service.

I emailed him and he replied back shortly saying that he had been in the hospital for a couple weeks. I didn't pry, but my suspicion at the time was that he had caught Covid. I replied back and told him that no hurry, take your time and get well.

I got two more emails after that, very brief and spaced a couple days apart. I'm not trying to imply anything, but something seemed wrong. They were odd.

Anyway I got a nice email from his daughter a few days after that. She said that she finally got access to his email and was trying to get refunds to people that had outstanding orders. I wished the best to both her and Brian saying that he did excellent work and I had bought from him a lot over the years.

...and as an aside, yes, crystals are getting hard to find now. Luckily I found a guy in NY to sell me the frequency I needed.

Sad to hear this, I had done business with him a few times and was a happy customer, my best to him and his family.

I have nothing but respect, well wishes, and prayers for Bry and his family business. I really hope he will get better against the odds, I know but sometimes it happens. Quality people are the very underpinnings of our hobbies and a necessary part of the industry. I am always rooting for the small business and the family business.

Marie had said that Bry would not survive this incident.  And just had another OT SK in last 3 days locally.  Loosing too many friends recently.  RIP Bry and Nick.
