"TOM", K1JJ,
It seems to me you've become desperate for a new project to apply your skills.
(professional DSP audio systems,etc.)
How about something to completely eliminate all single-sideband signals when I'm trying to listen to AM !!
I know China probably already makes one for $5, with free shipping....
Anyway, you've still got more big-tubes than me, so keep up the good work.

 Grin Grin   Hi Don,

Years ago I was sitting at a campfire with an old man. He said he was going to tell me the secret to Ham Radio happiness. He whispered "Isotrons, stacked" and then passed away. After a long search I finally figured out what he meant....  Isotrons somehow know the difference between AM and ssb signals.

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.

I thought you would say, there is SDR/software out there that can distinguish a signal with,
a carrier and both sidebands, etc. etc. and eliminates everything else.
I was'nt expecting the answer is the old wobulator sig-gen connected to stacked Isotrons...
That sounds much more fun.

Such shaftware will exist 10 seconds into the future, from now... but what fun would that be?
