I have not been on 40 meter AM for a long time but today I heard and worked some very loud AM stations just before noon on about 7290 kHz.
WB2RON, WB3FAU, N4AOW, N3TBW, AJ4OO AND VE3AJM. There was some QSB but at times all these stations were 10 to 20 dB over S9 on my Drake 2B receiver!

I have been off for a few weeks for winter holiday and have been hearing some AM activity down here in FL on 7.290.  I have tried to return a few CQs and send out many of my own but have been unsuccessful with my 25 watt carrier via a folded dipole at 35'.  Using various remote receivers, I can hear my morning CQs in Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina but no one has returned.

I guess I need to finish the 813 amp build!

7290 and 7293 have activity here in the west.....these days, afternoons seem best for propagation...I hear stations in CA, AZ, NV, UT, etc as well as some in the midwest...

Good conditions today (January 6) on 7295. Heard several strong stations (3 PM EST) and worked K3LQB who was 40 dB over S-9 on my Drake 2B!
