My modest collection of old CB rigs includes a CPI-2000, also with nice glass boards like the Stoner. Like the Stoner, the CPI rigs were a cut above the rest, and priced accordingly.
One problem with collecting old CB rigs is that many of the examples to be found have been butchered by operators whose desire to operate out of band exceeded their technical skills and craftsmanship. I can't count the number of times I've spotted a potential prize at a hamfest, only to discover that someone had sloppily run drill-bits through the front panel to install knobs and switches to enable illegal out-of-band operation. And inside it's often worse still, with modifications made with lamp-cord, electrical tape, and gobs of silicone rubber.
Stoner equipment is high quality with glass epoxy boards, and he also designed ham equipment, for example a mobile AM set for 2-8MHz. These are not like cheap CBs of the time.
