AWA AM QSO Party Results

The latest issue of the AWA’s quarterly Journal was just received here; April 2005 Vol.46, # 2.  The Results article on page 42 and 43 is by Marc Ellis N9EWJ, our editor.

The AM contest started Saturday evening February 26 and ran for 24 hours.  33 people sent in logs to Marc.  He estimates at least 175 stations participated!

Here is the top 10 results:
1. W2ZM Bob  2730 points!  Way to go Bob.
2. W2AN Ed Gable - museum curator and staff w/James Millen tx  1062 points.
3. W3R  1035 points.
4. WA4IAM Gary  612 points.
5. W0YVA  KW-1 tx  564 points.
6. W2VDX  435 points.
7. NE1S Larry FB-7 rx!  408 points.
8. W2IOG  405 points.
9. tie – WA2CJS and WA3KLR Tom  387 points.
10. W1ZB  360 points.

The event was a great success.  I hope that many new members have joined the AWA as a result of this event.  I look forward to next year’s contest.

One call is missing, W1UJR.

I submitted my log, but it must have been lost by the boys in blue.

Better luck next year.

Bruce,

I'm sorry to see that your results were left out.  I recalled that you said here on the forum you had about 58 contacts.  This would probably put you in 6th place.  I did notice that you were not listed in the results.  I presumed that you hadn't sent in your log sheet.

The period for turning in the logs after the contest was fairly short due to the bed time of the Journal being soon after the contest. Also Marc had surgury this past fall and may not be back up to full speed yet (not to mention the possible postal problems).

Hi Tom,

The thing is I sent them in early.

In fact sent off a nice letter to the AWA Officers thanking them for the revised contest.

I'll have to check with Randy see if I made a mistake or he did not receive them.

What really matters is that I had fun, fun, fun!

And those of you in the north east, don't forget the AWA Spring Meet in Bloomfield, NY on May 7.  It's always a great time.  It's not really a hamfest, but it looks like a hamfest, and walks like a hamfest, and talks like a hamfest.  AFLAC!

I can't wait for next year myself! Lots of fun! I'm sure the log submission period wil be longer next time. This event was such a major success for everyone involved. I'll be at the AWA Spring Meet in a couple of weeks myself (drivin' up from NC), so I hope to see some of you there. You can believe that this contest is going to be the talk of the ham radio forum at the AWA National Conference held at Rochester, NY in August!
