Nico and Chappie (Chappie is the dog...)

« on: June 08, 2019, 01:37:23 PM »

The values of my last blood test shows that my kidney is going down the drain, so soon I may need dialysis. I have so much stuff that I like to sell a lot before it becomes too late to clean, test restore etc. But I knew that should come, so no problem. It is a pitty that sending outside Costa Rica is prohibitive expensive, so I have to sell here.
A complete working AN/GRC9 station has to go including an LV80 amplifier, antenna, DY88 supply mic, loudspeaker, all cables antenna mounting, leg mounted morse key, spares  set for the AN/GRC9, spares set for the LV80, vehicle mounting bracket for the AN/GRC9, vehicle mounting bracket for the LV80. All in working order.
I did enjoy the set very much for years, so time that someone else starts to enjoy it.
Also a R1155 and a T1154 have to go. The R1155 has the direction finding removed by a former owner, but the receiver works nice. The available space inside is used to mount a 6F6 LS amp
Many materials (the complete long wave part) of the T1154 also had been removed by a former owner. I restored the inside as good as possible and the transmitter works again. Only the modulation should be improved, possibly a bad capacitor or so and incorrect voltages.
The transmitter is quite heavy so I leave the improvements to the next owner. There are good tubes inside and I have spare tubes for the transmitter output stage. (VT104)
Lets hope that someone here bites and that the sets will get a happy longer life.

Hi!

Nico, I will keep my fingers crossed, hoping that all ends well.

The GRC-9 with LV-80 is a very nice set up, use the same stuff my self quite frequently.

Thanks Brad an Morgan.
I knew that this day should come, the chemo therapy has ruined my kidney and I could maintain stable for 12 years. So not too bad at all. Hard to wish better. perhaps I can stretch the situation a little more before I need dialysis. Dialysis Isn't nice, but one can add quite e few years more when required, so I will be around coming years living here in paradise.
I had my An/grc9 with LV80 in a military landrover 88 for quite a few years in the Netherlands and enjoyed it very much.
I remember transmitting underneath a tree at 80 meters when suddenly a small branch did fall on my jeep burning!!!. The antenna did touch the tree and actually put the branch in flames!!

Sorry to hear that john. I hope your other kidney will hold up for many more years to come.
I went to the hospital, and they try to keep me going with new medicines that should bring various values of the blood in better figures and to protect the remainder of my kidney. So in a month or so i will hear the result
Regards and take good care of your self
