Wishing Gary - W2INR all the best as he heads into retirement today!

Gary was one of the founders here on AMfone.  Without his insight, dedication, expertise and help from those that were involved in the early yeas of AMfone, this site would likely not be what it is today.

With Gary's very diverse interests, I am sure he will be keeping quite busy as he enters this new phase of his life.  If possible Gary, plan a road trip to GMS Radio!

Either way, congrats OM.

From his job that he got paid to go to each day!   He has had a back seat here on AMfone for quite a number of years.

I will bow to the purloined bear at midnight.  I think Huz has the picture of the wooden bear taken that night.
Rock 88's & 73's. Best to you Gary.  Cool

It's been a long haul - congrats Big G!

More leisure time now to drum in the Salt City Rockers?

Retirement is just a beginning to more fun - Here's one of my favorite verses:

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!""

– Hunter S. Thompson (20th century American journalist & author)

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.

Wise Words : "I'm as old as I've ever been... and I'm as young as I'll ever be."

Thanks for the comments

I look at the names here and realize that I know each of you because of radio and years ago we would have been in touch at least weekly coming and going on the airwaves.  The radio on in the background listening to the morning groups ( Bob and Irb comes to mind), early evening groups and the late night crew, The AM Swap Net, The Piss and Moan Net, The AM Gangsta's, DUQ's UFO Net, The What's For Dinner Net, etc. etc.

Pretty cool stuff !

Bear - I have been hanging down on 80 meters between 3630 - 3740 when on the air. But yes I will be on more.

Buddly - Thanks

Rick - I remember the Bear, I helped carry it down.

Carl - Neither.

Kevin - Have 4 on me

Pat - Going to enjoy every moment

Tom - Going for the wild ride.

Rob - I like that, my life has been been simplified to only two days, sort of an party and recovery cycle.

Bill - Long time my friend.

Hey all lets play radio sometime.

Welcome to the Over-The-Hill gang!

I thought, before the magic date arrived, that I would be free to hit the bands at all hours, to "finally" get a 160 skyhook up, and to relax and read all the books I want.

I woke up the day after, and I had been tied up with a long strip of paper labelled "TheHoneyDoList!" No matter how much I struggle to break the bonds, it grows when I'm too exhausted to resist.

I can't type very long: I have to go shovel some leaves and SWMBO needs some special item from the market.

Someday, OM. Someday ...

Yeah man.
Chill time fer sure.  Every day is Saturday.... at least for a few years.  Grin

For others About the bear.  Seems at one of the festers (can't remember which but may have been first Howard Co.) a 4-H or similar org. had attended the fairgrounds the week before and left a giant, painted wooden bear, about 5 ft. high or so. They hadn't gotten around to taking it back yet.

So the bear along with three or four metal hat transporters (on-ground purloiners, so technically just a location change) arrived near the AM station in time for
midnight festivities with the bucket of Rocks.

-The Rocks being an illuminated bucket of faux ice and Rolling Rock beers.  Well at
least the tops were sort of still on the bottles.  Celebration was over the air of course and may have been combined with a sick rendition of "The bear came over the mountain."  Again, my mind is fuzzy 'bout that.  The Rocks were way before my memory so only INR or HLR or similar can corroborate the maker and early history. First I saw them was at Gathersburg.

Just wondered. It was a thing for a while to swipe the big outdoor "Kip's Big Boy" statues if a restaurant closed. They were usually returned later after a 'party'.

And your also in the bear picture with it.

(Steve, perhaps some of your AM Window links broken or old pix’s gone now?)
Pretty sure now it was the last Gaithersburg ‘98 , and the slide show link doesn’t seem to work for me.
