What's with Joe, N3IBX?  Is he OK. What's with the auction? I didn't think he'd ever sell anything

Al,
I was on QRZ.com a couple of weeks ago and happened upon a notice of an auction of some of Joe's stuff.  The auction notice indicated that he wanted to thin out some of his collection. It did not mention anything about health issues or anything else for that matter other than down sizing his collection. I'm taking it at face value unless someone knows otherwise.  Hopefully, there are no issue and maybe the vortex reached terminal velocity and he's making room for something else.

Joe is just scaling back a bit.  Channeling the money for some home repairs and such.  As we age, its a smart thing to do!  In addition, his mother will likely be moving in with he and Jocelyn.

Hard to do, but a smart thing to do.

Joe,

Thanks for letting us know.  He auctioned off some 300 items and only scaling back a bit.  One can only guess what he still has left if he only let a bit go.

Glad the Vortex is OK and just scaling back.

I visited Joe's place around 13 years ago. I came away with three thoughts: Joe is a nice guy and a generous host, his accumulation (doesn't qualify as a collection IMO) was unlike anything I had seen prior or since inside a home, and no way in hell would I want all that stuff, inside my house or otherwise.

I'm very glad to hear that Joe and his XYL are well. Last time I heard him was on 160, but that was years ago. I wonder if he's still active?

Yes, Joe's accumulation was massive.  Even with the items that went to auction, I am sure he still has quite a bit.

I have not heard Joe on the air in quite some time, but that is not to say he is not on the air.  I believe he has some sked's set up with friends, but I have no clue when they occur.

A friend of mine chats with him on the telephone from time to time.  The most recent conversation was just a few weeks ago.
