Covers 10 kHz-520 MHz. Reconditioned in 2011 by former Northern Telecom engineer and Marconi specialist/restorer Adam Farson VA7OJ/AB4OJ. Looks good, works as it should as AM generator. I've never used it for FM work.
The 2018A and its companion 2019A (which has a top frequency of 1040 MHz), have unusually low phase noise for digitally synthesized RF generators. Farson states in “Choosing an RF Signal Generator” (
http://www.ab4oj.com/test/sig_gen.html) that they equal or outperform the analog H-P 8640 in this regard.
Off the shelf coverage of a 2018A is 80 kHz-520 MHz. The unit I'm selling is a variant that extends the low end to 10 kHz. It also includes the optional GPIB (IEEE-488) interface that allows control of all functions through the bus.
The following will be included with the signal generator:
-Power cord,
-N to BNC adapter,
-Five spiral-bound manuals, one with test data from Farson on this unit,
-CD with Farson’s test data and digital files of the manuals.
I will ship but would much rather arrange pickup in the Washington, D.C., area. Shipped weight from 20854 would be around 45 pounds.
Originally listed on several sites for $300 plus shipping. Price reduced to $225. Money order preferred. Add 3.5% of the total if PayPal. Signature confirmation and extra insurance are strongly recommended. No return or refund—sale is final.
