I bought a used Heath kit Apache mod transformer.  I have the print for the hook up, but I need to know which colors are the primary, and secondary.  Any help with the colors would be appreciated.

You should be able to figure that out by down loading an Apache construction manual and checking out the section where the transformer is wired in. It will say something like "take one blue wire and attach it to..." then follow through with tracing the wiring on the schematic.

TX1 Modulation Transformer wiring data from Apache Assembly Manual

Bob, There is no direct information listing the wire colors.  I deduced this information
by following the steps and pictorials in the assembly manual.

Transformer wires are black, gray, green red, yellow, blue and brown.... per pictorial on page 43

Page 44 covers mounting the transformer and routing the wires through grommets.

Page 47 covers the primary wiring.

The rest of the transformer wiring information ends on page 52.

Primary begins with brown wire to plate of V11.

Primary center tap is red.

Primary ends with blue wire to plate of V12.

Internal shield slate wire is to be grounded to a lug.

Secondary starts with black, which is connected to a terminal strip JW pin 1
with a jumper wire to the capacitor that is connected to the primary center tap wire (red).
This is high voltage B+ to both the modulator and the RF final (through the mod transformer secondary).

The 500 ohm tap on the secondary is green, and it is connected to terminal strip JW pin 3
No other wire is connected to this pin, as it would be connected only if the TX1 modulator is used as
a speech amplifier to drive a higher-power modulator.

The top of the secondary is yellow, and it is connected to terminal strip JW pin 2.
From there it goes to terminal strp JS pin 5 and provides modulated DC to the final amplifier tubes.

I hope this information is helpful to you,

73, Rick

Rick that is excellent information, I can't thank you enough.
I tried to find the manual, but between working and "life", I have not made it there yet.
This will help so much.
Thanks and 73's.

Well surprise - surprise, you can't find the manuals on the Internet anymore.  I am happy to see Heath come back, I am not happy that they removed all the tech manuals from easy access. Not very amateur radio-like.
