Hi Folks,

It seems the electrostatic shield of my nc173 power transformer shorted to the secondary. Disconnecting it from ground fixes the radio but I just want to make sure there aren't any safety problems with doing this that I'm not understanding?

Thanks 73

Don't see a problem so long as it doesn't/hasn't shorted to the winding in more than one place.   That would be noted in higher than normal power consumption and excessive transformer heating.

When you say the secondary, do you mean the HV or filaments?
