My VHF-152A has a second 6AK5 that is not shown in the schematic. Is this a second RF amplifier that was added later in production?

The converter has 4 tubes, are you saying yours has 5 tubes or is it that someone plugged a 6AK5 in the 6J6 socket?

OK, I guess a better description is in order. My VHF-152 has 3 tubes in the RF section. 2 each 6AK5 and 1 6J6. The photo in the manual shows a plate covering the tube socket location nearest the front panel. In my case, the 6J6 is located there and 6AK5's are in the 2 sockets that should be for a single 6AK5 and the 6J6. All of this looks like original factory work. I don't know if my unit is an early version, or what?

My VHF-152 tube problem has been resolved. Further research indicates that I have the VHF-152, NOT the VHF-152A. It uses one 6AK5 as the RF amplifier and a second one as the mixer. One half of the 6J6 is used for the oscillator. I have a schematic in hand, so now I can proceed with my restoration.
