Red part turned in for a refund.

« on: May 15, 2018, 07:32:54 AM »

I had lunch with Dennis, W7TFO yesterday and he gave me an awesome low voltage transformer.  240 in and about 90 out using a voltage doubler.  Halving the current gives 8.5 amps, which is plenty to run an 8-FET transmitter using PWM.

Just wanted to give a shout-out.  Thanks again Dennis!

A PWM and power supply would go nicely where my retro-50's station is right now.  That can just go in the trash.  What the hell was I thinking?

I picked up an unobtainiumly nice chassis at the last hamfest and didn't know what to do with it.  See, I bet nobody's ever used the word 'unobtainium' as an adjective.  I'll build the power supply out of it and find something else to build the PWM in.  I even have in my box of stuff a 150 vdc meter.

Another Vegas trip next week, so it may take a while.  Women and slot machines await!

Priorities my friend.

At least mock up the pwm.  Then take a picture.  Hang said picture in a 8 inch round frame.. Find the GAUDIEST gold chain in existence.  Use said gold chain to hold picture frame around neck.

Girls think pwm is seckzi!

And none of us knew what you where doing going retro!  Lol!

I get it.  I have a VIKING II going up for sale.  What the HELL was I thinking buying THAT!

Girls also think Baofengs are sexy.  I'll hang a few of those around my belt, along with a ground plane aluminum work hat for a 2 meter vertical.

I re-capped the Elmac, so I'll mark it up $100 and resell it on eBay.

A picture of a PWM board would be best.  I wouldn't carry the actual board around the strip.  That's just asking for a tazing at minimum.  When I was there a few trips ago, I got a Drake 2b receiver for a really good price off Craigslist and had to carry it back to my hotel room.  This was well before the shooting.  I was nervous back then and wouldn't pull any ham radio tricks at this point.

You better mark it up 2 hundred bucks if your really going to sell it. By the time you relist it five times, the blood thirsty people at ePay will have you paying relisting fees that will cost you more that you paid for it, just to sell it!
