This is Wayne's homebrew Class E transmitter.

(I know we now have a Class E section, but I think this is more about building, general interest,
and less about Class E technical details)

As seen at NEARFEST.
I think the quality of work and the attention to detail is self-evident.

The power supply is not shown.

You can never have too much shielding between the RF output tank circuit and everything else.

I think Joe GMS posted these same pictures but Joe didn't mention what the pictures were.

The power supply is not shown.

The power supply is shown - it's integral to the modulator.  The only component external to the modulator / power supply is the DU2 power transformer itself.  It would have made the chassis too heavy to mount it there.    I do the same with all of my transmitters - have for years.  Never do I put the power transformer on the chassis for anything over about 450 watts.  To do so makes things too heavy to mount in the rack conveniently.   Keep in mind, this rig runs the same power as a Johnson desk or a KW1 - a lot of power in a relatively small (and not too heavy) package  Smiley

Wayne does absolutely amazing work !  A Far superior implementation to anything I could have done for sure.

Wayne claims this is his last transmitter.  He has built a number of class E rigs - most of them for other people.

Beautiful!!! Was it for sale or just there for show? I really miss him on the air along with Guy W1FRM? I have a hard time understanding why people leave the air? I can understand it if they are sick but otherwise??

I am not on in the winter months because of where I live and I really don't want the coveted "Worked All Neighbors" award Angry Angry
