Red part turned in for a refund.

« on: March 18, 2018, 10:06:29 PM »

I posted about this antenna a long time ago. I decided to mount it permanently at the house and see how it performs. I’m limited to two radials due to the summer pool going up soon. And, I can’t be too conspicuous.  So, here it is.

At 6:30 pm tonight the band was pretty dead. I called CQ on CW and this is what I got for reverse beacon stuff. I’ll take it! Power was 100 watts on a ricebox.  When I get my shack re-do done, I’ll be running a DX-60 into a linear for 500 watts.

You know, that’s not such a bad idea. Only, try to convince my wife that’s it’s safe. It’s like Chevy Chase in the movie Spies Like Us when they’re recalling the rocket and he needs to complete the circuit.

Making AM GREAT Again!

To me, 20 is the low band if your in an HOA.

5 meter (15 ft) quarter wave.  Pretty much all I could get away with for a 'TV mast'.  The small turnstile antenna on top for 2 meters acted as a capacitance hat.

4 radials on the roof, I used a dark brown wire which blended in to the shingles. 10 and 15 meters can be included by using multiple radials.

ANYTHING to get your radials off the ground will lower ground losses, especially if you're allowed one or two!

PRB1 provides for a TV antenna!
