Wind took down mine too. Well, it will give me incentive to get BOTH back up since the L-L fed wire came down 2 years ago.

Its a real bummer when the ants fall down. The trick, is to put it up higher than it was before. I hope youse two get yer ants back up.

John

I'm pretty sure you lost your tennis ball canon.  Is there someone around the area that can loan you theirs?  I have a 2 oz lead weight canon but we are too far apart.  It's the one Steve W2TRH had.  You're welcome to it if you are still off the air just before NearFest

Sorry to hear this John. I didn't lose any trees, but one end of my 75 meter dipole came down on Friday. That was some wind storm.

We only lost some shingles on the roof!  Went up 2 days later and did the repair.  Now we have lots of snow over those shingles on the roof.

Mine came down last night. Ordered a replacement that'll be here long before I'll be able to string it up. I'm praying for a quick snow melt, but not sure that's going to happen. Being QRT is no fun.

I had a clean sweep.  Many large branches came down in my backyard with all the snow loading.  One by one those tree limbs took out all four of my wire antennas.

Take a little time to get some back up.

How much snow did you guys get? Seems like a double-whammy, big winds and then lots of heavy, wet snow.

I got about 8-9 inches of heavy wet snow.  It took down many big sections of trees or whole trees on my property.  I have some stuff down on all four sides of the house.

Got about 16" up here in northwest NJ. The winds weren't too bad near where I live, but the weight of the snow was the issue. Nearly half a million homes and businesses were reported to be without power since last Friday in the NY-NJ-CT tri-state area, but I lucked out and was dark for only about two hours last Saturday.

The lowest form of humor is someone bragging about their weather, but this one is funny because it's true.

I recall seeing that “We will rebuild” picture after the mild earthquake near Washington DC a few years back.

Long time ham friend Steve, KL7JT’s M2 KT-34 beam after they got nearly a foot of wet cement up in Sudbury MA Wednesday, and after it melted off.  Still no power up there except their generator.

Well, it's been a couple weeks and the wind has FINALLY died down here. We were still getting 30-40mph gusts the last few days.

We lost about 1/3 of a huge tree in the backyard, it fell about 10 feet behind my daughter's swing set (which I moved forward about 15 feet last year). She happened to be standing in her bedroom window with me when it snapped and fell. Quite a site, as the piece was bigger than many of the trees around it.

There was also a lot of damage locally, including the road that winds through Prince William forest. I take this every morning because it empties out directly in front of the front gate at Quantico while avoiding the traffic and lights on 234 as well as the craziness of I-95. It's twisting and winding, 45mph speed limit, but far a less aggravating 15 miles. The Marines have their training range on one side of the road, the forest is on the other. Many tall pines and other softwoods. A *lot* of damage, the road was actually closed for 3 days. Thought I'd lose my mind (what little remains) waiting for it to re-open.

Some photos...

And probably enough for now. Keep in mind, this is only *one* road. Hundreds of trees snapped like toothpicks or uprooted. There are places you can look out into the forest and it looks like they dropped a Daisy Cutter. It'll take a year just to clean up what's along side the road. A lot fell into the power line ROW too.

The 40m dipole that 'JN installed is still up, though!  Grin

Wow! That's quite a mess Todd. Nothing big came down here but 100s or smaller branches and 10 times than many even smaller ones. The yard clean will take a while.

One end of the 80 meter dipole broke. The wire broke within feed of the end. I have to admit to not checking the wire in many years, so I payed for my lax preventive maintenance.
