254W

« on: February 24, 2018, 09:20:10 PM »

Just got back from the Bismarck hamfest where I scored pretty well. Picked up a DX-100B complete and original for $50. Got a big box of transmitting tubes including three 100TH's, four 254W's, and a bunch of NOS 6155's - which I think are equivalent to 4-125's - right?? Got all the tubes, about 20 in all, for $20. Hopefully some are good Huh I found two NOS 6B4G's for a decent price as well. Big find of the day was one of those high end Western Electric K-15560-L1 tube testers made by Hickok. Good shape - paid $50. Found a beautiful unused National transmitting variable, 500pf, 3/8 inch spacing, about 18 inches long, $20. Got some variacs real cheap, and a Bird 43 to top it all off. My RF deck also won the home-brew contest - full disclosure - there were only two entries  Cheesy. That got me a $25 ARRL gift cert. WOO HOO!

The box of tubes had about 15 Amperex 5894 tubes and three RCA 829's which I think are VHF finals. If somebody wants them, I will send them to you for the cost of shipping, otherwise they go to the dump.

Anyway, it was a good day.

I was about to speak up, but decided not to; got too much stuff as it is. Glad to see you back Ron, and nice finds at the hamfest! I'll be parts scrounging in a couple weeks at the Charlotte 'fest; basically just going to see who all will be there.
