I was able to get the the transmitter out of the cabinet and was able to trace some of the connections on the plug I showed. I know this is a long shot but do any of you recognize this mod? Here is what I can see on the left side of the connector. I don't understand what this is suppose to do. I haven't tried to bring the transmitter on line yet.

Obviously, in its present position, it does nothing so I wouldn't diddle with it until you check out the rest of the transmitter.

Thanks Pete, good advise. I fired it up on 40 meters, into a dummy load and getting 200 watts, CW. I've never tuned a Valiant but I do have the manual and it's pretty straight forward. This transmitter has had a tough life and lots of use, some of the labels are worn off. I'll keep testing the other bands and finally get it on the air. I was just curious as to what the purpose of that socket is but thought it a long shot that someone might have seen something like it before.
