Couldn't get up there today due to various non-weather related issues.  Planning on being there very early AM tomorrow.  As the subject queries, just how wet is it up there Johnny? We are really getting dumped on now down here in CT.

Also, is there a time in the wee hours where the gates are closed and you can't get in?  Planning on showing up some time before 0600.

Apparently 0520 is too early to arrive on Saturday without a prepaid ticket or a ticket bought here yesterday and you are coming back in.  Just a security guard here letting in people with prepaid tickets or tickets purchased yesterday.  Not set up to sell tickets to new arrivals.  Sitting here at the gate until someone shows up to sell tickets.  Hoping that's at 0600 or sooner.  Never did an arrival this early on a Saturday, did not see any info on the Nearfest web site re what time ticket sales end on Friday night or start up on Saturday.  That info would be helpful for those coming in late Friday or early Saturday without a prepaid ticket.  I am never sure what my schedule is going to be so I have not been able to buy prepaid tickets.

Hi:

I made it Saturday morning. Was able to stroll between rain-drops. Not many sellers or buyers, but prices were very good. Bought an FET-VM and audio test set for $5 total. Also some old QEX magazines for $2.

Good to see many AM'ers.

Some photos....

Dan

Nice to see the Military crew and Al of course. You all looked like you just got out of the shower. Ha. Picked up a few odds and ends.

The meter on the Lafayette KT-223 looks a little funky. Hopefully it's only an adjustment. I might still have some of those N.O.S. meters, but not sure.

Got an email from a high school friend in MA who went up to NEARFEST on Saturday, too bad about about the bad weather. Here in CA was the West Coast Military Radio Collectors Meet in Friday and Saturday at San Luis Obispo and the AM International BBQ Saturday an hour south in Santa Ynez.

Enjoy the pictures and will post some from our events here when I get time, thanks.

Nice haul, Mike. I noted the germaniums - a hard find.  Met a lot of friends both days - nice encounter meeting you Mike.

Hi Dan, what is the second item on this page? An atom smasher, hearing aid tester,
brain fryer, Male steriliser, wife destroying device?

That is a HV AC capacitive voltmeter. Uses a high voltage capacitive voltage divider. Used for measuring very high voltage AC up to RF.

You can find some for sale here:

It caught my eye too at the fester.  No doubt the most frightening voltmeter I have encountered, so gave it serious consideration.  It was still there Saturday afternoon.  Should have bought it especially after reading Terry's possible extracurricular functionality. Grin

Thanks to all who showed up, rain and all.  We need about 1000 to break even, this time we had about 850.

See you ALL in October.
