Address in QRZ.com is correct.

Many thanks for the offer, I'll let you know when it arrives.

Got it.
I "assumed" you were talking about compared to 10 MCS WWV. My standard.

   Carl,

Could be but the NC-300 doesn't do 10 MC.
Too bad, a great RX, just "Challenged" by modern
standards.

I've had prolly 4 or 5 300's but due to Ham
Band only limitation have moved them all along.
My only "Ham Band RX only" now is a 75A-4 but still
have a 300 in my shop.

The NC-400 OTOH was an excellent rig, The 300
really needs a calibrator due to that 2215 LO osc
Coil that soaks up humidity and is temp. sens. Even
if National Refurbed it to XTAL they fly all over
the place.

    Dick,

Had a Family Crisis yesterday, I'll post that
Calibrator on my way home from work tomorrow..

/Dan

Actually, it will receive 10 Mc. Check out Service Bulletin FSN-39.
I can send you a copy if you don't have it.

Tnx again for your help,

Once I get this NC-300 working, I will try it. Should be useful for netting the Xtal in
the calibrator. Not the most accurate method but will do for 1950's technology !!

Hi Dick:

WHy do you think netting the cal osc to WWV on the air is not accurate?  Seems one can get to within  a Hz that way +/- Doppler and other effects which bother if you are  looking for tenths of Hz.   From previous FMTs, I can say that the online reference is the next best thing to a GPSDO /Rubidium standard and the non-ovened cal crystal isn't going to stay that close anyway.

Just curious.

You basically answered your question, for precise measurements one does need something more
accurate than the WWV "Off-The-Air" signal.

But, as I wrote, it is adequate for 50's technology.

My issue is with the Xtal Calibrator I have not even coming close to 100 Kc. If I could tune it on to
freq, than I most likely would use WWV to get it "in the ballpark".

you know every time I assumed something in electronics, it would always come back to bite me ...

but its ok with me unless due to our pride we try to keep digging trying to cover up a mistake
sometimes it goes really deep ...

so I guess you might call this Carls bad cavern ... Cool
