When measuring the cap plate spacing to determine the voltage capability of a HV variable cap, is the distance specified in articles and catalogs:
  • The distance between any two plates in the same part, i.e stator plate to stator plate
The distance between a stator and rotor plate?
Obviously it has a 2X or 50% impact on the voltage calculation.
Thanks

Distance between stator and rotor.  1/4" has a rating of 9KV peak.  The distance between two stators or two rotors would be 1/2" plus the thickness of the plates,  this is for a 9KV cap.  Other caps would be figured the same way.
