       Just a reminder that if you want
to Renew an Amatuer Call sign vehicle
license plate in Ohio, You need to bring
your Original FCC issued License and pay
a $20 Fine/Tax/Fee.


        They make a copy of it every year.
The lady said "we don't see many of these
anymore".  My response, "I can see why"

   Hey Bud..


    Looks like they raised $25.00.  I did
2 vehicles today.. My Mom's 2003 Taurus
(Renewal) was 54.50 and my Truck with the
call sign plate that was $79.50 also
just a renewal.. 

    But hey, besides having to go home
for the "Original" Ham license and go back
and wait again, all in all, a big PIA.
BTW, Your conformation card isn't gud
enuf..

Here in NJ, it's a one time $10 fee. I've had mine since '76

    I did a little more research on this
and found out that if they call it a truck
there is an automatic $15 penalty/Tax/Fee.

    So I guess your correct Buddly, the
Ham penalty/Tax/Fee is still $10 but an
extra $15 since they code my old Ranger as
a Truck!

   Laughable..

Does anyone know how to get a printout of your own FCC Amateur license? They don't send them out after renewal anymore. I'd like a copy to post on the wall in the station.

I didn't see anything on their amateur section website.

   I messed with the same thing yesterday
with no luck.. did find an fcc.gov site
that brought up an image of it with
the words Reference Only in large block
letters diagonally across the image.

   Guess your supposed to keep it in
a safety deposit box.  I finally found
my original License in with the paper
work from last years auto renewal..

   I think I'm going to scrap the call sign
plates next year,,

log into the FCC ULS License Manager System http://wireless.fcc.gov/uls/ with your FRN and password to ‘Download the Electronic Authorization’ of the official license.  On the ‘Download Authorizations’ page ADD your call sign to the ‘Authorizations to Download’ and then click download. In other words, your callsign will show up in the left box, highlight it then click the ADD button to move it to the right box. Then click download.  The PDF of your license can be saved, printed later or the file can be opened and printed immediately.

Here in the Great State of Texas the state boys seem to like us. There is no charge for amateur radio tags.

The states where you retain the plate upon sale of your vehicle are sometimes less expensive than the ones like California.

Here,  we sell a car,  the plate goes with it,  unless it is a vanity plate.

Of course,  you PAY for the privilege of a vanity plate here.

Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona (1953–65, 1969–87) was an avid amateur radio operator. This was back in the heat of the cold war. As a matter of fact, Barry campaigned for president in 1964. His campaign was for the use of nuclear weapons. He earned the term "Drop the Bomb Barry".  He lost!

During his long Senate life he made amateur radio license plates free of charge in Arizona to encourage hams to show the public a ham could help in an emergency by calling for help. Car accident or war. Many other states caught on, it was a very good idea. California stayed with it by charging a nominal fee, like $2.00 or so until the 1980's. Like other states, the price went up. Viewing it as a vanity plate or making it as difficult, like Ohio, is just ignorant.

  Friend of mine got a new car a year ago, applied to the PRK DMV, was told it would take 6 months for a Call Sign Plate, he has a no plates just a sticker in the back window. His original plate order never came, it appears it was 'lost" in the mail, every 3 months he goes and get another temporary sticker.

 The Golden Gate Bridge did away with toll booths, it is all either on electronic Fast Pass or they take a picture of your license plate and send you a bill with a buck added for handling.

 Every time he drive across the Golden Gate Bridge he smiles!!

There's an underground and black market mentality in every over-regulated and suppressive state. Little workarounds that make life almost bearable.
Looks like the KLF will soon have higher resolution cameras.  

One of the reasons the former USSR collapsed (other than everyone finally refused to believe anything printed in Investia and Pravda or what was heard on state radio and TV) was simply the hardships of everyday life compared to the west.  Looks like the KLF majority is actually proud of daily harassment.

An old USSR babushka upon learning that oranges were being thrown away in the latest propaganda tirade about "wasteful West Germany" cried,  "Thrown away? "

Whatever today's typical person is called in these 'modern times'..........They don't even know what a radio is!!

I was asked to produce some programming for a new LPFM in my city. "THEY" asked me to stop identifying the station, saying 107.5 mega hertz.........."just say 107.5 FM."

AM FM TV...and DUMBPHONE APPS......shortwave?? Ham radio people talking to one another using a box with fading scratchy sounds in it?

So Dan, the breakdown from BMV website is;

$49.50 for light-non comm truck under 3/4 ton
$10.00 for call letter plates
$1.50 writing fee
plus variable county tax.

Makes mine $76 this year.
