I've gotten ahold of a Uniden Tempo 2020. The receive works fine but the transmit is nonfunctional. The previous owner told me that there was smoke under the power supply right before the failure. I'm seeking a service manual for this. I am presuming that, based on the description of the problem,  the place to start is looking at the rectifier board since it may be that the caps are fried -- probably the diodes on that board also. That seems to be the only board dealing with power supply for the finals.

This was only $35 so I'm not out any real money on this deal.

You can get the user manual complete with parts layout and schematics here as well as an alignment procedure. While not a full service manual it is at least a start.
