Collins R390A for sale

This receiver was manufactured by Collins on order #8719-P-55 and all the subassemblies are also manufactured by Collins. No mix and match. Serial #1781. It is in excellent condition and has no modifications other than a 12BH7 in place of the ballast tube.

The front panel paint has no wear patterns around any of the controls. There are some small paint chips along the very edges of panel but they are very minor. There are marks in the paint around the rack mounting holes. The local audio volume control knob has some chipped paint but all the other knobs are fine. The meters are original. The top cover has some scratches which you would expect for receiver this old. There is no stenciled nomenclature anywhere on it.

All the bands work and sensitivity is good. The mechanical filters all work. The VFO end point is 1.8 kHz off. The crystal calibrator works fine and is very close to WWV at 15 MHz.  The BFO is ok. The dial lock could use some adjustment to lock the dial tighter but it does work. The B+ filter caps have been replaced with new caps in ice cube relay cases. I do have the original 1955 vintage caps if someone wants to restore them. Included is box of manuals and R390A information which includes the 21 st century R390A technical reference.  An antenna adapter to BNC is included.

Asking price is $700. At that price I will include my collection of spare tubes for this set, about 30 in all.

I will not ship this receiver but will meet within a reasonable distance from Saratoga NY. I will have it with me a Near Fest and will gladly arrange a meet. Just email me and we can coordinate a location in the fest. I will have an inverter with me to power it up.

The following link is a short demo of this receiver tuned to WWV on 15 Mhz, it also shows the IF output.  https://youtu.be/CmgDDmI4AAQ
