I took advantage of being snowed in to fix the audio on my Hammarlund HQ-100.  My project is described here:

http://soldersmoke.blogspot.com/2016/02/snowed-in-audio-mods-on-hammarlund-hq.html

An AM Window page by Larry W9MDX (January 2003) described the problem very nicely, and his solution did the trick.  Kind of funny how the Popular Electronics magazine ad bragged about the "Auto Response" audio circuitry.

I'm listening to WA1HLR and W2IQK on 40 now.
