Thought I'd post some pics in case someone wanted to see the insides before they remove their meter from a Viking II. It's straight forward but maybe there is someone that likes to plan ahead instead of just diving in. There are probably better ways of doing this but here's what I did to secure my loose meter glass.
1) Pic 1, remove 4 nuts and slide terminals off the bolts.
2) Pic 2, close up of terminals and connections
3) Pic 3, once terminals are off, remove the shield. Remove the 4 screws holding the meter to the front panel. Hold the meter by the escutcheon and slide meter out pushing from from the rear of the meter.
4) Pic 3, There are 3 screws securing the meter in the housing. You can see one at the top of the meter in the photo. Remove them and carefully remove the meter from the housing.
5) Pic 4, Install shims to secure glass in the housing. I used pieces of #88 O ring (2 1/8" od x 1 15/16" id x 3/32")
I guess I could have used a thicker o ring but the top center gap is wider than the bottom gap near the flat part of the glass. The cut pieces of 3/32 worked fine. I tried just gluing the glass but the glue migrated up the glass and looked bad, I cleaned that off with nail polish remover and went with the shims instead.
Reverse the steps to re-install. The stainless bolts that hold the terminal strip to the shield will be nearly impossible to install again unless you find a way to hold them in place. I used "Glue Dots" adhesive (1/8 in / 3 mm). Just stretch a little microdot to the bolt head and press it against the shield. It holds it in place so it doesn't get pushed back into the shield when putting the nut on.
