Does anyone have information and/or Mods for DX-60 PTT? Minimal drilling and blasting please.

On my DX-60 I just key the CW key jack input even on AM. Maybe I am doing something wrong but it seems to work ok to me. I have a set of contacts on my Dowkey antenna change over relay that plugs into the CW key jack and I see no output or plate current etc except when this relay closes.
Very simple and no blasting or drilling. If anybody knows any reason why this method is problematic please let me know.
