I went down and turned the equipment on early so it would get most of its drift out of the way before the net switched over to the Midwest edition.  I was listening for the Eastern edition, figuring it would be like usual, poor band conditions yielding weak signals.  Surprise surprise, the East Coast guys had big signals in the midwest.  Net control, Bob W0VYA, was a big signal as well.  At the risk of getting yelled at for checking into the Eastern edition, I checked in and received a great signal report.  Band conditions were incredible!

About 10 minutes later net control shifted to the midwest edition.  Oh my gosh.  Jim W0NKL called for check ins.  It was bedlam with AM stations 4 and 5 deep trying to check in.  Most stations had big signals as well.  Heck, I had armchair copy from a DX-60 station no less Smiley)))))    I heard K5PZ from Texas 20/S9.   Jim passed net control around to his helpers K5PZ and K0EJF.  Each call for checkins generated bedlam.   What a great time that was, lot of stations, lots of great signals, lots of interesting rigs. I had to bug out before the end of the net so I didn't hear if everyone got to check in before net control shifted to the west edition.  I wonder if the west coast was being heard out this way.

I was running a Ranger II driving the Viking Desk Kilowatt in the low tap, and throttled back to somewhere around 200-250 watts output.

I checked into the eastcoast net at 7:20 PM local with W0YVA.
Then later I listened to the channel around midnight local and heard N6PY Palmdale, other 6's and KL7OF.
