I try to get to shows where the "old guys and girls" are still making noise. Last year I saw Rick Derringer, Dave Mason and Gary Wright. Like us, they are not going to be there forever. We just lost Johnny Winter.

J. J. Cale has been gone for a year now, but Eric Clapton and friends, including Mark Knopfler, Willie Nelson, Tom Petty, and Derek Trucks have a new album coming out this week (tomorrow 7/29) in tribute to The Breeze and his music.  I heard a preview on iTunes  this weekend and it is excellent.

Was sad to see JW pass- I think he was the headliner at the first "big name"  rock concert I ever attended, was at the old Portchester, NY Capitol Theater in maybe 1970 or 71.  I think I was home from URI on Christmas vacation at the time.  I believe he also had his brother Edgar's band on the show bill.

Bill Monroe taught em all how to rock and roll and was the man for more than six decades. We'll never see that again.

I think I still have a John Mayall vinyl album around here.  I believe the album was titled "Empty Room" but I may be wrong on that. 

Will have to put it on my old AR turntable into the Dynaco tube amplifier!

I have seen this not well known guy perform on many occasions when he's in the area.  His music background isn't like the mainstream and he has a unique sound and think he's very talented.

Hi Chris,
I have all his albums.  Love his music and style. His technique, at least in that video, is reminiscent of Chet Atkins and that is one of many of his influences. He's played down here.  One of his last appearances in the local area and small venue was at the Knickerbocker a couple of years ago which is not to far from you.  Seems like his venues are getting larger which is good but then again no so good.
